Aléna Guest, CHt runs a private hypnotherapy practice in Mendocino. She sees about 20% of her clients as a result of also being on staff as a medical support hypnotherapist at the Mendocino Coast District Hospital (MCDH). Guest is part of an innovative wellness initiative whose purpose is creating a “culture of health” throughout the entire community. MCDH is on the leading edge and served as a pilot institution for implementing this Healing Hospital program.

Ridiculous Reflections

Ever catch your reflection by surprise? I don’t mean sneaking up on your shadow. Once in a while you may walk past a window or mirror and be surprised or even startled to notice your own image from the corner of your eye.

Beliefs have a strong tendency toward self-preservation. We usually interpret information so that it supports the way we already view the world. This includes subjective judgments about ourselves that don’t always have a firm basis in fact. Thus, wrote Robert Anton Wilson in Prometheus Rising, “What the thinker thinks, the prover proves.”

Farewell Humboldt
